Some of the animals that come to us dont get rehomed but stay with us for the rest
of their lives. this is either due to disability, sickness, aggression or some times because they are fallen in love with. (were only human)
Nigel is a species of new zealand skink unknown in the reptile trade but common in his home country Mr & Mrs are a pair of 3 toed box turtles.
Nigel Came from a local shop where he had been living after being found in a box of imported farm equipment from new zealand, He was a wild animal and very aggressive, he is tamer now but is still unhandleable so he lives here with us.
This is Mrs, her partner (below) is much more camera shy.
3 toed box turtles are cites II listed
and as such cant be sold .
Due to this we keep them
here and enjoy their company very much.
This is trundles her and her sister share the same name as there identical. They are malasian box turtles, related to the american box turtles but they are not endangered. This pair captured our hearts as they are such characters and we have kept them for nearly 10years now
This is Hannah, a 10" soft shell turtle, she was a well loved family pet until she got to big for her owners, who with heavy heart signed her over to us. We have not rehomed her and dont intend to, she is now part of my family. .
This is sophie a female boa constrictor. She is 6ft long but very docile. She lives with us because of her size, but also as she is so docile, we intend to do the occasional school visit with her.
You wouldn't know it but she is totally submerged in her water bowl, hardly breathing (that would ripple the w ater and give the game away) with just her nostrils breaking the water.
Jubjub a male dab lizard came to us with another male. His friend had a tumour on his leg which turned out to be malignant.
Jubjub looked after his companion in a way that surprised us, two males would usually fight, but Jubjub would stand guard over his friend and make sure he had his share of food.
When his friend died we brought jubjub a girlfriend and let him retire with us here as reward for his good deeds.
This is Jabba (the hutt). She's a monster of a bearded dragon, large in length as well as in girth.
She and her mate didn't get along and their owner couldnt afford to keep both, so we gave them a good home.
She has a lovely temperament and we fell for her whole heartedly.
This Handsome lizard is blue. He is a big male blue tongued skink. He lives with jabba the bearded dragon (above) Blue tongued skinks are powerful creatures with jaws that mash up snails and other inverts. Blue came to us when his owners moved out of the country.
Blue has the nicest personality of any of the blue tongued skinks we have had,so we have adopted him ourselves.
These 3 lizards get along famously, here they are lounging under their heat bulb like old friends.
This is gump he came to us via our exotics vet Charlotte Lewis at the wokingham branch of Kynoch vets.
Charlotte rescued him but found he couldnt be kept with her existing tortoise due to personal differences.
He now lives with us as he has a few physical problems and we have wanted a characterfull tortoise for a while.
